Amazing!
I am constantly amazed that God really can use me – so ordinary and flawed – to do His Kingdom work. It is through the cracks and flaws of this vessel that God’s strength and perfection shine best. He floods the emptiness of our heart and mind with His fullness and strength. Our brokenness displays the reality of His healing power, inviting every broken life to experience God’s stubborn love.
Yet, like Jeremiah, I argue with God that I am too young, completely incompetent, and just plain unworthy. It never works! In fact, I can almost hear Him say, “So, what is your point?” The reality is that God not only uses the seemingly unusable, it is His plan and delight to do so. Let me illustrate that point.
Noah was a drunk .Abraham was too old .Isaac was a daydreamer .Jacob was a liar .Leah was ugly .Joseph was abused .Moses had a stuttering problem .Gideon was afraid .Sampson had long hair and was a womanizer .Rahab was a prostitute .Jeremiah and Timothy were too young .David had an affair and was a murderer .Elijah was suicidal .Isaiah preached naked .Jonah ran from God .Naomi was a widow .Job went bankrupt .John the Baptist ate bugs .Peter denied Christ .The Disciples fell asleep while praying .Martha worried about everything .The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once .Zaccheus was too small .Paul was too religious .Timothy had an ulcer .And last but not least, Lazarus was dead!
If God can use these broken men and women, He can certainly use you and me. All it takes is our willingness to be available and a commitment to obey. After all, we are not the message. We are just the messenger.
No more excuses now. God can use you to your full potential. Today, invite Him to use you however and whenever He chooses. Can God use you? Can He use me? Absolutely! Let’s go for it!
